The New York police press card

The United States had no national press card. In New York the card that counted was local: the police department issued the city's press credentials, which let a reporter through police and fire lines, and kept doing so until the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment took the task over in 2022.

No card of the twenties or thirties has been found, nor the rule that governed it: the words, the layout and the term of a year are ours, and the office says so above them.
