Medicinal Leech
Creature · Common
Physicians used leeches for bloodletting, the Manchester Royal Infirmary alone going through fifty thousand a year in 1831, and collectors gathered them from ponds until the wild stock collapsed. Alchemists keep them alive in a jar, since a leech that has fed carries a little of the life it took.
