Water Hyacinth Stalks
Plant · Common
The plant is made into furniture, handbags, baskets and rope; in Bengal the dried plants are burnt as fuel. The green parts and flowers are cooked as a vegetable in Taiwan, Java and Vietnam, and the plant is fed to cattle, though too much of it is toxic.
