Eurasian Eagle-Owl
Bubo bubo · Bird
The eagle-owl nests among rocks from conifer forest and mountain to desert, steppe and river gorge, and hunts from dusk through the night. A pair holds a wide territory for life. Farmers welcome it as a rat-catcher, and tame birds have been kept to scare gulls off rooftops.
