Sandalwood
Plant · Uncommon
Only the heartwood carries the scent: it is distilled into sandalwood oil for perfume, ground into incense and the paste of Hindu caste marks, burnt in temple censers and laid on funeral pyres. Alchemists prize a splinter for its two essences, the light of the temple and the quiet of the pyre.
