Rose Hips

Very rich in vitamin C, rose hips are made into jam, syrup, jelly, tea and wine, and a mead called rhodomel; they are sweeter after a first frost. The hairs inside are used as itching powder and must be removed before eating, hence the French nickname gratte-cul.
