Gancao Root

Plant · Uncommon

Sliced and sun-dried, used raw or stir-baked with honey; Chinese medicine puts it in almost every remedy to harmonise the other herbs. Its glycyrrhizin is 30 to 50 times sweeter than sugar, and it sweetens beer, drinks and soy sauce. Too much brings headaches and weakness and raises the blood pressure.
