Wild Boar
Sus scrofa · Mammal
Wild boar keep to woods, marshes and riverbanks near water and thick cover, sows and young moving in sounders while grown males wander alone. They lie up and wallow in the heat of the day and forage by night, and they root up and trample fields. Boar have been hunted for meat for millennia and are the wild stock of the farm pig.
