Badgers dig great burrows, called setts, in well-drained soil at the edge of woods and fields, and a clan of a few to twenty animals may share one. They come out at dusk, forage through the night and sleep through the worst of the winter. People made brushes from the hair and rugs from the skin, and farmers blame them for ruined crops and sick cattle.
