Common Raven
Corvus corax · Bird
Ravens favour open, wild country: tundra, sea cliffs, riverbanks, mountain forest, plains and desert. They go alone or in pairs that keep the same nest for life, gather where carrion lies, and stay put through the winter. Farmers hunted them for raiding grain and fruit, and Finland paid a bounty on them until 1923.
