Wild Strawberries

Plant · Common

Small, fragile and more fragrant than garden strawberries, they crush when picked and carried, and larger-fruited strawberries replaced them in gardens from the late 16th century. They go into jams, sauces and liqueurs; in Turkey hundreds of tons are still gathered wild each year.
