Roe Venison

The roe deer is Europe's main source of venison, darker than farmed deer meat, and a game animal of great value: some 2.5 million were shot in western Europe in 1998. It eats about a thousand kinds of plants, browsing brambles, heather and ivy in winter, and acorns and beech mast as well.
