Gentian Root

Plant · Uncommon

Gentian root, among the most bitter things in nature, was dug by the gentian-diggers of the Massif Central with a 'devil's fork' for herbal bitters, stomach remedies, theriac and liqueurs such as Suze and Salers; the white veratrum that grows beside it is deadly. Drawn from deep mountain soil, the root steadies a preparation and wakes the body that takes it.
