Edible Bird's Nest
Creature · Rare
A cup of hardened saliva weighing about fourteen grams, soaked and cooked into soup or congee, a Chinese luxury for over four centuries. At Gomantong in Borneo licensed collectors climb to the cave roofs twice a year on rattan ladders, ropes and bamboo poles, once the young have flown.
