Saronite

Named after Yogg-Saron, an Old God imprisoned beneath Northrend, saronite is literally the ore form of the Old God's blood seeping through the earth. It is abundant in the frozen north and widely used for weapons and armor, at a psychological cost to those who mine it.

The Lich King Arthas used saronite extensively to forge the weapons and armor of the Scourge. Smiths who worked it long enough began to hear Yogg-Saron's whispers. Some went mad. Others claimed the voice showed them truths they couldn't unlearn.
