Found in the deepest ocean trenches at pressures that would crush ordinary materials, deepcoral metal forms when mineral-saturated water seeps through the skeletons of massive abyssal organisms over millennia, replacing organic matter with a metallic matrix. It is harvested by deep-sea entities as currency.

Deepcoral metal cannot be submerged without becoming temporarily malleable, since pressure and seawater trigger a molecular relaxation that allows reshaping. Sea-dwelling smiths exploit this to repair deepcoral equipment without furnaces. On land, it is hard as stone and impossible to reshape without exceptional heat.
