MGS Toolbox for Foundry VTT, Campaigns & a Massive Update Across Every App
Four days, a hundred new things — and one more application. Here is everything that changed since 1.2.2.
MGS Toolbox — the Foundry VTT module (new)
Every studio app now comes to your virtual table (Foundry v12 and up). Install the module from the Hub's "MGS Toolbox for Foundry" page, generate a token on MGS Audio's "Connect Foundry VTT" page, paste it into Foundry, and you are set.
- MGS Audio: browse the catalogue and download the tracks you own straight into your world, sorted into playlists — one per album by default.
- Soundboard: Music and Ambience tiles built from the catalogue (Tavern, Combat, Forest, Horror…), streamed, with search, crossfades, binding to a scene or to combat, and hotkeys. (Patreon)
- Effects: a grid of streamed sound effects heard by the whole table with nobody downloading anything. Click a tile again to cut it, filter by tag, and drag any tile — an effect or a Soundboard tile — onto the macro bar for a hotkey. On D&D 5e, a spell cast from a sheet plays its effect on its own, picking a random take among the variants. Per-scene reverb, music ducking, compressor — all switchable off. (Patreon)
- Encyclopedias: Crystal, Metals and Rerum open in a Foundry window, and their export buttons become "Send to Foundry": the card or the picture is filed as a journal page in an Encyclopedias folder of the world, downloaded once so it stays readable offline. Sending the same entry again updates its page.
- Reference compendium: every metal, mineral, potion, ingredient and gem becomes an item in a world compendium, built at launch, and the Crafting Table's rules are written into a journal. Free, like the website (the Crafting Table half needs Patreon, like the bench).
- Fantasy City Simulator: send the party's loot (gold, materials, food, research points) or effort on one construction project to one of your settlements; import its inhabitants as a journal (portrait, description, history, GM-only secret, personal journal) and, if you want, as actors — on D&D 5e and Pathfinder 2e the sheet also gets the biography and the creature type. The other way round, right-click an actor to make it an inhabitant of the settlement, form prefilled and portrait included. And when an NPC drops to 0 HP, the module offers to report them wounded, killed… or healed, and the settlement records it.
- Crafting Table (D&D 5e): a campaign's inventories become items on your players' sheets — potions as consumables, socketed equipment created as the weapon or armour picked as its base item (with the system's stats, damage and price), and the gems' bonuses applied automatically as an Active Effect while the piece is equipped. In reverse, the sheet sends its ability scores, proficiency bonus and tool proficiencies to the Crafting Table, and the bench's Socket tab can add a socket to any object the actor carries — sword, ring, lute — which registers it on the table. Raw stones and prepared gems now carry a gold value on the sheet. Finally, the bench works from inside Foundry: brew a potion, extract an essence, cut a raw gem — the website rolls with its own rules and the result lands back on the sheet, with the roll posted to the chat. (Patreon)
- Astarrys' guide: a journal written for the GM on the first launch, in Foundry's language, walking through every window option by option.
Each block (audio, encyclopedias, FCS, Crafting Table) can be switched off per world in the settings.
Campaigns (Hub)
A new Campaigns page: create a campaign, hand its 6-character code to your players, link your FCS settlements to it — each one gets its own Crafting Table. The Foundry module then picks one campaign per world and only shows what belongs to it. Linking or unlinking a settlement changes no FCS rights and never deletes anything.
Fantasy City Simulator
- Registry: the deceased view becomes the Registry. An inhabitant can now leave the settlement — with their minor children if you wish — and come back later, aged by the cycles spent away. Every entry carries its status (deceased, departed, returned) and its reason.
- Personalities: every inhabitant now has a personality made of traits (rerollable, GM-editable) and a personal journal that writes itself — arrival, birth, couple formed or separated, widowhood, job change, coming of age, retirement, departure, return, death. All rendered in your language, properly gendered in French, instead of the frozen English prose it used to be.
- Relationships: friendships and rivalries form, evolve and fade over the cycles according to affinities. The GM can force one by hand: it is then locked and the simulation leaves it alone. Four knobs in the configuration (probability, decay, maximum friends and rivals).
- Ambience: a new tab plays the whole MGS Audio catalogue while you run your settlement — type / era / genre / mood filters, search, play queue and a docked player. (Patreon)
- An MGS Audio track per element: in the three builders (inhabitants, building plans, events) you can pick a track from the catalogue; it shows on the sheets, plays in the Ambience player and links to its page on /audio.
- Addresses: the settlement, the tab and the open sheet now live in the URL. The browser's Back / Forward buttons work, and a link to an inhabitant, a building or a plan can be sent as-is.
- Species: lists, sheets and prose finally show the real species name instead of its technical key; descriptions already written have been fixed.
- Odds and ends: unlocks only offer jobs that actually exist in the settlement, the image library gains a curator role to grow the shared bank, import/export explains what it did, and event numbers no longer show ten decimals.
Crystal
- 3D specimens: invented minerals are no longer a flat gem. They are grown in 3D from their entry — crystal system, colours, zoning, core, inclusions, glowing veins, surface, matrix — turnable, with a button to enlarge them. Real minerals keep their photographs.
- The Forge: a new tool to build your own crystal, option by option — system, habit, colours, transparency, luster, origin, rarity, affinity, zoning, core, inclusions, veins, surface, shape, growth accidents — with its name, its lore, its hardness and its density. An "All random" button rolls a whole specimen in one click. The first third of every list is open to everyone; the rest and the export are for Patreon supporters.
- One address per mineral (in French as well as English), 141 pre-rendered entries, and "Generate" becomes "Discover" — it is an encyclopedia, not a generator.
Metals & Rerum
- Card export: the "Download card" button now exists on Metals and Rerum too — and becomes "Send to Foundry" when the encyclopedia is opened inside the module.
- A clean address per entry — 88 metals, 350 ingredients, in both languages — with pre-rendered pages: a shared link finally opens the right entry, and search engines can see it.
- Corrosion resistance and reactivity are translated instead of shown raw.
Crafting Table
- Campaigns: create or join a campaign from the app with your GM's code, and seat a character at it.
- Base item: pick the D&D 5e weapon or armour a socketed piece corresponds to, and the module creates it in Foundry with its real stats.
- Inventory driven from Foundry: as soon as the GM uses the bench inside Foundry, the website turns read-only with a banner — and a button to take it back whenever you want.
- Addresses: the open panel, the alchemy mode and the active character live in the URL.
MGS Audio
- Packs: the tracks released together now form a pack — a chip on each track filters the catalogue down to it, and one "Download pack" button brings the whole set home as a single archive. (Patreon)
- "Connect Foundry VTT" page: token generation, step-by-step setup, and the devices list now shows each one's type (desktop app or Foundry).
- Variations: on upload, "Song (Loop)" links itself to "Song", even when the parent is in the same batch. A Variations tab catches up the whole existing catalogue in one go.
- The website's player became a shared component: it is the same one playing inside the Fantasy City Simulator.
Hub
- A new "Features" entry: everything the platform offers, what stays free and what Patreon unlocks, product by product.
- An "MGS Toolbox for Foundry" page with the published version, the manifest URL to copy and the install steps.
- The Campaigns page, and the lightbox arrows finally centred in their circle.
Under the hood
Audio downloads and sound effects now go through an edge server: files leave from a point close to you instead of travelling through the application, which is markedly faster and far cheaper to run. The Soundboard and the Effects stream instead of downloading. The encyclopedias are pre-rendered at build time and publish a sitemap, which finally makes them shareable and visible. The reference data — metals, minerals, gems, potions, ingredients — now lives in one shared library, so the website, the Foundry module and the compendium say exactly the same thing. A monthly fair-use guard protects the service from automated scripts. On the desktop app, the "Restart now" button after an update works, and installs still on 1.1.0 finally receive new versions.
