MGS Audio desktop 1.4.0: layers, playlists, places and smart playlists

MGS Audio desktop 1.4.0: a real player

A new audio engine built into the app: loops join without a gap or a click, the way a game would play them. Ambiences and tracks titled "Loop" start looping by themselves (paid Patreon tiers).

Layers: up to 8 ambiences at once under the music, each with its own volume and loop, fading in and out. A master volume and "Stop all" for the whole scene. Two songs never play together: a new one takes the place of the last.

Level: music and ambiences play at one loudness, so a quiet track no longer gets lost after a loud one. On by default, one click to hear every track as mastered.

Playlists (Patreon)

Playlists play one track after another, without a gap or crossfaded, repeated or shuffled. Drag to reorder, or onto another playlist to copy.

Ambience mixes start all their ambiences at once, each at its own volume: the hearth, the crowd and the rain of a tavern in one click.

Right-click any track to add it to any playlist. A Layer button on every track of a playlist adds it to what already plays.

Smart playlists: "Save as smart playlist" keeps the Library's filters and search, and every track you own that matches joins it, new releases included.

32 ready-made playlists of music: by genre (Exploration, Battle, Dungeon Crawl, Tavern Night…), by setting (Sci-Fi Odyssey, Steampunk, Eastern Realms, Call of Cthulhu…) and by theme (Sea & Sails, Winter & the North, Royal Court, Haunted, Mourning & Farewells, Boss & Showdown, Thieves & Stealth…). Each shows what you own; add one to your playlists to rename it or change how it plays.

Your own audio: add folders of your own files and play them beside the MGS library, in layers, playlists and mixes. They are only ever read.

Places (Patreon)

Hear the scene somewhere: a cave, a cathedral, a small room, behind a door, underwater, far away, on a gramophone, in a canyon, in a dream. One slider for how much.

For the whole scene from the player, or for each ambience on its own: the river far away, the fire close by. An ambience mix remembers each one's place.

In every app

"Skip to content", and every app works from the keyboard: tabs, lists, cards, sortable columns, dropdowns and the language switcher. The keyboard focus shows, a mouse click does not.

Notifications are read by screen readers and wait while the pointer or the focus is on them.

The "i" bubbles open at the bottom of a phone's screen, with a close button.

Small text is a little larger.

On the MGS Audio website, the media keys, a headset's buttons and the lock screen drive the player, and the arrow keys move along its waveform.

Passage, Bearer, Covenant and Scriptorium: every paper has a plain transcription, shown on demand and read by screen readers. The PDFs carry it too, so their text can be searched and copied.

Biomes: science fiction, game genres and ways to travel

Biomes: a journey in your game's genre

Choose your table's genre: medieval fantasy, afrofantasy, Asian fantasy, Middle-Eastern, western, steampunk, Cthulhu Mythos, modern, post-apocalyptic or science fiction. The same genres as in the MGS Audio catalogue.

The genre decides everything the expedition comes across: the events of the road (the stagecoach at the relay, the peddler, the gold seekers' trail, the wireless that picks up a name, the drone that does not come back, the scrap town behind its wall), the encounters (the bestiary's creatures in fantasy, only aberrations in Cthulhu, animals in western and modern, mutants in the wastes), what is found on the way (alchemy's ingredients only where magic is) and the ships (sailing ship, dhow, junk, steamer, liner, cargo ship or survey craft).

The marvellous really happens: the jinn's palace is there, the fox-woman pays her debt, the spider comes and sits at the fire, a dragon-king sends his envoy.

Variants, sites, planes and the world below all have more events of their own.

How you travel

Every leg has its way of travelling: on foot, on horseback, by camel, elephant or yak, by wagon, by stagecoach, by river boat, by dog sled, by train, by airship, by bush plane, by car, by truck, by motorbike, by bicycle, by 4x4, by snowmobile, on a flying mount, by flying carpet, by sand skimmer, by rover, by armoured buggy.

Each changes a day's distance with the ground, meets the weather its own way (an airship stays moored in a storm, a sled runs on snow) and has its own mishaps: a thrown shoe, a cracked axle, a portage round the rapids, dogs fighting in the traces, a forced landing.

An upkeep line says what to bring: the animals' fodder, grease for the axles, fuel.

The SRD 5.2.1's travel pace: slow, normal or fast, fast only where the ground allows it.

Sites and planes become legs of a journey: explore a crypt, a city, or cross the Astral's silver sea by astral ship.

More playable days

Every day opens on something to play: an offer, a price, a danger, a lead. Atmosphere comes after.

Events no longer decide for the players: they set the situation, the table chooses.

"Someone in the party" is a player character or a companion, as the GM chooses.

Science fiction

Nine worlds read off real bodies (a red desert like Mars, an ice moon like Europa, a methane world like Titan, a hothouse like Venus, a lava world like Io…), with their facts checked: gravity, day length, air, temperatures.

Twelve places among the stars: orbital station, derelict, outpost, precursor ruin, asteroid field, nebula…

Threats play on an SRD stat block, with their Starfinder Second Edition equivalents when you choose the Pathfinder rules.

An expedition on a world goes in suits, by rover or by buggy.

Fauna, flora and photographs

New plants and animals for the thinnest milieux: flooded grassland, mangrove, barrens, reef, kelp forest, springs, caves, mines, the deep sea. Their products join Rerum.

Nearly every animal and plant now has its photograph, and the landscapes that showed a road, a quay or a house have been replaced.

Milieu pages say how they can be crossed and how far a day goes.

A search in the rail: milieux, places, animals, creatures and plants by name, accents ignored.

In every app

The up and down arrow keys walk the rail's pages from anywhere, except in a field or an open window. In Metals and Rerum they walk the entries. Rails no longer slide sideways.

Windows announce themselves as windows to screen readers, take the focus and give it back when they close, and Escape closes the top one without opening the game menu. Symbol-only buttons have a name, and the last English-only texts in MGS Audio and the Hub are translated.

Lighter pages: MGS Audio, the Crafting Table and Biomes load faster. After an update, a page that can no longer find its files reloads instead of staying blank.

Crystal, Metals and Rerum show their links to Hearth and Biomes again. Passage's places link to Bearer's passports of their country, and Bearer's authorities to their Passage ports. Crystal's minerals say which Crafting Table colours they cut into.

MGS Audio

The Freebies Collection is free for every signed-in account, in MP3, OGG and FLAC.

Desktop app 1.3.3: switching format or folder makes tracks downloadable again, and a re-sync no longer duplicates files. On an album no Patreon tier unlocks, the app offers "Buy" instead of "Subscribe".

MGS Toolbox for Foundry

An expedition sent to Foundry carries its genre, its pace and its upkeep line. A journey through a site or a plane carries its page.

Biomes: the milieux of the world, for the table

Biomes: an atlas of the world for game masters and worldbuilders

A new app joins the Toolbox. Thirty-six milieux, from the taiga to the deep sea: their climate and seasons, the plants that grow there, the animals and creatures you meet there, what can be gathered or fished, the hazards on the road, and what lies beneath.

For the table: how the ground is crossed and how far a day goes, water and foraging, the hazards with their rules. Choose plain words, D&D 5e (SRD 5.2.1) or Pathfinder Second Edition in the menu, kilometres or miles.

Every page has its photograph from Wikimedia Commons, its ambiences from the MGS Audio catalogue, adventure hooks, and written encounters to roll, taken from our blog's encounter generators.

Fantasy: thirteen variants (cursed, blessed, haunted, fungal, crystalline, primeval with its dinosaurs, eldritch, frozen, burning and more), ten sites to explore (dungeon, crypt, ruins, sewers, a wizard's tower, the city…), twelve planes, and the world below: a fungal forest, lava tubes, crystal caverns, the abyss, with the rock's warmth as you go down.

A bestiary of 234 creatures of the SRD 5.2.1, each with its full stat block in English and French, its Pathfinder equivalent when Monster Core has one, its cry, often an old engraving, and the Rerum ingredients it gives.

An encounter for your party: give its levels and the difficulty, and Biomes builds a group of the place's creatures within the rules' own budget.

The expedition: a journey day by day across up to five milieux, on foot, by ship or under the ground, with its weather, its finds, its meetings sized for your party, its hazards, and a dice to redraw an event. One day for everyone, thirty with Patreon. Copy it as text or send it to Foundry.

A thousand reference pages in each language, linked to Rerum, Hearth and MGS Audio.

MGS Toolbox for Foundry

1.7.0: Biomes comes to Foundry. A milieu, a site, a plane or a page of the world below becomes a journal entry with roll tables of its creatures and finds; an expedition becomes a journal with a page a day. Creatures link to the SRD stat blocks in a D&D 5e world and to Monster Core in a Pathfinder world.

Hearth: how large a city your land can feed, two new skins and an achievements leaderboard

Hearth: a city builder for worldbuilders and game masters

A new app joins the Toolbox. Pick a place (climate, terrain, water, the rocks underneath), a size from a hamlet of a hundred to a city of a million, and Hearth tells you what it takes: how much farmland, how far the carts go, how many villages and farmers around it, the wood it burns, what it makes and what it must buy.

The city asked for is always the one described. A city too large for its land is told what it costs: grain brought by river or by sea, harder lords, a strained countryside.

The sheet reads like a city, in plain words: its area and walls, households and parishes, the districts where trades gather (the market, the quays, the tanners downstream, the fire trades at the edge), thirty-one trades, most of them counted from the Paris tax roll of 1292, the market, the bad years, and what a plague or a famine leaves behind.

Power: the regime, what lords, tithes and taxes take, a public granary. Techniques and eras change the yields, the carts and the trades.

Fantasy: cities carved under the mountain and fed from the caverns below, forges on lava, hot springs.

Your universe: your own goods, cultures and food crops, computed like Hearth's own and kept on your account. One of each without Patreon; as many as you like with it.

Eight cultures give the sheet its words: European, Roman, Arab-Persian, Nahua, Inca, Song China, Mande and Dwarven.

A region: several cities, the roads, rivers and sea lanes between them, realms with their borders, tolls and tribute. Import an Azgaar's Fantasy Map Generator map and its towns become a region.

Every sheet plays its sounds: an ambience for the town, its districts and its trades, from the MGS Audio catalogue.

Honest about what it knows: sourced figures and Hearth's estimates are told apart, and the sources are listed in the menu.

Copy a city as text for a wiki, World Anvil or Kanka, or send it to Foundry as a journal entry. With Patreon, its ambiences go with it into a playlist.

Two hundred reference pages in each language, by place, rock, trade, staple, regime and culture, linked to Crystal, Metals and Rerum.

Ten achievements, from a city fed by a whole empire to the plague, by way of the tribute you would like your own vassal to pay you.

Two new skins (Patreon)

Drow Me Like One of Your French Girls: obsidian and violet stone, magenta as the only vivid accent. The skin moves: the vein beats, a drop runs down it, faerzress rises off the floor, the fungal glow breathes, and a spider comes down over the windows. Nothing moves on busy tables, and if your system asks for less motion, the skin stays still.

Probing Uranus: night-blue ink, silver lines, a star chart and its instruments, stars turning in the rail.

Fixed: on both skins, buttons shaped as links are readable again ("Launch the application" on the Hub). The Probing Uranus rail is darker so its text stands out. The texture behind windows loads with the page: no more flat colour on the first menu.

Achievements: the leaderboard

The twenty accounts that have unlocked the largest share of the catalogue, and your own rank.

Only a pseudonym you choose is shown, otherwise "Anonymous adventurer".

Each achievement shows the share of accounts that hold it, once at least twenty accounts are counted.

Crystal

257 entries instead of 171: twelve varieties and materials (agate, onyx, jasper, moss agate, jadeite, nephrite, zoisite, orthoclase, lazurite, pearl, mother of pearl, coral), 41 ore minerals (tetrahedrite, acanthite, cobaltite, molybdenite, bauxite, native platinum…) so every real metal has its ores, and 33 rocks, from granite to gneiss, with their minerals, formation and uses.

Fourteen kinds of ore deposit have their own page (placer, vein, porphyry, skarn, laterite, kimberlite pipe, pegmatite…), with the metals they yield.

Every entry says what it is (species, variety, group, rock, organic material, trade name) and links to its varieties or members. Filter and search by kind.

The existing entries were read one by one against their sources (Handbook of Mineralogy, the IMA list, Mindat, GIA, USGS): over six hundred corrections, from formulas to known localities and French names. Every entry is now sourced or marked provisional, and every page has its Sources block.

3D specimens: the Forge offers new matrices (on a slab, sawn and polished with its agate bands, in a geode, cathedral geode, in a vein) and "Floater" for a crystal with no matrix. Nodules are round and smooth, crusts form grape-like clusters, and glowing cores finally show through the glass. A shadow sets the crystal on its rock, and exported cards are sharp.

The mouse wheel only zooms a specimen once you have clicked it: otherwise the page scrolls as usual.

Metal Encyclopedia

Every real metal lists its ores, dated historical or modern, and the deposits it comes from. Alloys give their composition and their history.

Rerum Natura

Every ingredient says where it is found: 97 ingredients that grew "everywhere" now have their places, from real ranges and the habitats of the DMG and the Monster Manuals.

New places: farmland, Gehenna, Hades, ley lines, planar rifts, karst, salt flats, inselbergs, and a family of ultramafic rocks (peridotite, kimberlite, serpentinite…).

Powders say what they are made from, and Crystal and Metals say what their entries are used for in alchemy.

Encyclopedia search ignores accents.

MGS Audio

The format picker only offers what your account may download, and a refused format says so plainly.

Bandcamp FAQ: why an album obtained with a download code does not show up (Bandcamp only shares actual sales with us).

Bearer

The Chinese excavation licence is now read off licence No. 1 of 1935 (Academia Sinica, for Anyang): its wording, its title, its numbered counterfoil. It is set in Kai like the original and carries the two ministries' real seals, white on red. New field: the head of the institution.

Fixed: the print PDF draws the inside cover as the screen does. With two desks open, the second one's contents and word lists no longer answer for the first. Errors say again whether you need Patreon or to sign in, and saving while signed out no longer asks for a photograph.

Crafting Table

Fixed: equipment with a socketed gem can no longer be deleted by mistake, gem crafting notes are shown, and only D&D 5e sheets can be used as characters.

The Hub

The Campaigns page is redesigned: one tab per campaign with Create and Join windows, the GM's invite code as a ticket, the system editable in place, one card per settlement with its Crafting Table, players alongside.

Sharing an app's address in a chat now shows a picture of the app (Bearer's booklet, a Crystal 3D specimen, a screenshot for the others) instead of the studio's icon.

Fixed: with Brave or an ad blocker, the first tab reloaded twice and lost its address (a Passage journey sent to Bearer landed on a blank passport).

MGS Toolbox for Foundry

1.5.0: Bearer's window shows authority and page names instead of raw ids, a full Polish booklet fits, and a refused passport tells the GM. At the Crafting Table, a player can no longer act as another player's character. Chat messages are no longer dressed twice on Foundry v13 and v14, and two tracks with the same title no longer overwrite each other.

1.6.0: Hearth comes to Foundry. A city sent from Hearth becomes a journal entry, and with Patreon its ambiences arrive in the "Hearth ambiences" playlist.

Update the module from Foundry's Add-on Modules page ("Update" on MGS Toolbox) or from the Hub page "MGS Toolbox for Foundry".

Bearer: the papers of the interwar years, your characters on the account, and five hundred period portraits

The media library: five hundred period portraits

Five hundred and two portraits from the 1900s to the 1940s, copyright free (CC0), join the shared image library. Enough to put a photograph on a passport or a card without uploading anything, and they only show up in the period apps.

Bearer: the interwar paper office

A new app joins the Toolbox. Bearer makes an investigator's passport for 1920s and 1930s play: the 32-page booklet a clerk would have filled in by hand, with the bearer's description, photograph and the countries it is valid for, then the visas and frontier stamps a campaign leaves in it, session after session.

Fourteen offices issue the passport: the international model the League of Nations settled in 1920, Britain, France, the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Poland, Egypt, Iraq, Mandate Palestine (in English, French, Arabic and Hebrew), the Republic of China, and the Nansen certificate for an investigator with no country left.

Thirty-four other kinds of paper follow, each in the countries that issued it: driving permits, permits to dig, birth, death and marriage certificates, identity, press and police cards, firearm and hunting licences, committal papers, warrants, telegrams, customs declarations, and the papers of the stops of Masks of Nyarlathotep, from New York and London to Cairo, Nairobi, Western Australia and Shanghai. A hundred and eight papers in all.

Nearly everything is read off a real document. Where none has been found, the paper is reconstructed from the country's law and the app says so: the reference pages give the source of every paper and what is still provisional.

Paste the link of a Passage journey and Bearer says which visas it asked for, in what order, then writes them in with the journey's stamps. A consul may refuse.

The booklet ages as one object: a stain falls on a spread, soaks through the leaf and comes back fainter on its back. Worn edges, water, coffee, and blood in three amounts.

Pages download as PNG and share by a link that rebuilds them exactly. With Patreon: the booklet as an imposed PDF to print and fold, the library filed by campaign, handing a passport to a player, photographs, and the printer's mark that comes off the foot of the page.

The forger: five mistakes in a crude forgery, three in a good one, one in a master's, in the words as in the drawing (a leaning rule, a frame that does not close, a column out of true, a squashed seal), and the Keeper's sheet that says where to look. Patreon.

Eight achievements, and a stranger who walks up to the desk when you are short of NPCs.

Passage

The Channel: Dover to Calais daily, first and second class, with the boat train alongside on both sides. London reaches Dover, Paris reaches Calais and Marseilles.

The planner chooses better: no place crossed twice, no detour by Cherbourg to get from Paris to Marseilles, and the express or packet it keeps is the last one that connects.

Documents wear their years like Bearer's: edges, folds, water, a coffee ring and blood, with the amount set at the ticket desk.

Tickets are filled in by hand and stamped, and every date is written the way whoever wrote it did.

A line's logo is picked from the media library.

Your characters, on the account

A Characters page in the account menu: up to twenty characters, in D&D 5e, Call of Cthulhu or another game, with the identity a period paper asks for.

A character shares by link, and whoever opens it can add it to their own account (a private copy, never the inventory).

The apps read them: the Crafting Table takes the D&D 5e sheets, Bearer fills a paper's holder from a Cthulhu character, Passage offers them as passengers.

The hub and the apps

The rail groups the apps by category, each with its icon and tags.

The middle of the rail scrolls, in every app: a long list no longer pushes the Menu button off the screen.

Images are picked from the media library everywhere (library, your uploads, upload), cropped to the frame's proportions.

MGS Toolbox for Foundry

1.3.0: Passage comes into Foundry. The office opens in a window, a dossier imports as journal entries, and the party becomes the fellow travellers.

1.4.0: Bearer in its turn. A button on the journal sidebar, "Make a passport for this character" on an actor, and passports become journal entries.

Update the module from Foundry's Modules page ("Update" on MGS Toolbox) or from the Hub's "MGS Toolbox for Foundry" page.

Passage: the travel papers of the 1920s and 1930s, computed

A new app joins the Toolbox. Passage prints the travel papers of an interwar journey, and it computes them instead of typing them out.

Two places and a date

Pick a departure, a destination and a date between 1920 and 1939. Passage finds the real departure, the company, the steamer, train or aeroplane, the door to door duration and the fare of every class.

The network holds 87 places and 27 fictional but plausible companies, each modelled on a real one, with 139 steamers, expresses, aeroplanes and one airship line. Fixed sailing days, the Suez and Panama canals, boat trains, night stops, class names that shift with the years, and fares in pounds, dollars, francs, lire or guilders at that year's rate.

Arkham, Innsmouth, Kingsport and Dunwich sail from Boston.

The dossier

One ticket per company on the route, in its own language and currency, plus the itinerary, a baggage label, a landing card and the passenger list.

Every document downloads as a PNG for the virtual table, and a share link rebuilds the whole dossier exactly as it was.

The atlas and the travel guide

Every place, company, vessel and route has its page, with its sailing days, its fleet and a ticket in one click.

The guide gives the journey times and the fares of the period's great routes, from the Atlantic crossing to the mail run to Bombay.

With a Patreon membership

Your NPCs on the passenger list, the 300 dpi print PDFs with crop marks, the dossier imposed on A4, document branding (your logo, company and vessel names), and a library of saved dossiers filed by campaign.

In Foundry

MGS Toolbox opens the travel documents office in a window, sends your party along as fellow passengers, and imports a dossier into the world as a journal entry with one image page per document.

Update the module from Foundry's Add-on Modules page ("Update" on MGS Toolbox) or from the Hub page "MGS Toolbox for Foundry".

Generating, downloading and sharing is free and needs no account. Seventeen achievements come with it.

Patreon Packs, MGS Audio 1.3.1, Two New Skins & a Character Sheet

MGS Audio: the Patreon Packs tab

Packs now have their own tab in the catalogue (/audio/packs). Each pack opens on its own page with its whole track list, a "Copy link" button to share it, the pack ZIP if you own it, and Subscribe or Buy if you don't.

The "download the whole pack?" window that popped up before every single-track download is gone.

Pack ZIPs are now prepared in advance: the archive is ready the moment you click, instead of being built on the first request.

MGS Audio desktop 1.3.1

A new Packs view next to your library: every pack with its counters, and a one-click "Download Pack" that fetches the tracks you are entitled to and don't have yet.

The app updates itself at launch: if no prompt shows up, restart it once (or grab it again from the download page).

Two new skins (Patreon)

Local Man Explodes: a light newsprint skin, black ink and cover red.

Fhtagn Around and Find Out: drowned basalt and verdigris, with a few things that wake up when you leave it alone.

Encyclopedias

Crystal: 30 real minerals join the catalogue, from 141 to 171. They were already named as associated minerals on other entries; those names are now links.

G picks a random entry in the Metal Encyclopedia and in Rerum Natura, as it already did in Crystal.

Crafting Table: the Character tab

Each character now has a proper sheet: class, ability scores, and every skill with its proficiency level (one click for proficiency, two for expertise, half proficiency for Jack of All Trades).

"Import an AideDD file": load the XML saved by AideDD's Character Builder and the scores, proficiency bonus, caster level, tools and skills fill the sheet. Review, then save.

MGS Toolbox 1.1.0: Foundry v14 no longer drops the connection at startup

A small update of the Foundry module, verified on Foundry v14.

The bug

When a world opened, the module immediately renewed the streaming links of the Soundboard playlists (and of the inhabitants' themes) so they would last the whole session. Foundry v14 refuses to prepare a playlist sound before you have clicked once in the page: that renewal failed in the middle of a server update, the client lost track of its playlists, the connection dropped and any MGS Audio window stayed on "Loading the catalogue…" until Foundry reconnected.

The fix

The renewal now waits for your first click in the page, the moment Foundry unlocks audio, then runs exactly as before. Nothing changes in your playlists.

Update the module from Foundry's Add-on Modules page ("Update" on MGS Toolbox) or from the Hub page "MGS Toolbox for Foundry".

Open Data: a Public API, Embeddable Cards & an MCP Server for AI Assistants

Everything the encyclopedias and MGS Audio show is now yours to build on — free, no key, one condition: link back.

Public API

88 metals, 141 minerals, 350 alchemical ingredients, 54 potions, 58 gems, the Crafting Table rules, and the whole music catalogue (tracks, composers, albums, packs, moods, genres) as JSON, in English and French.

Search by name across every catalogue, filter by anything (rarity, crystal system, environment, essence, mood…), or ask for a random entry: loot tables, foraging rolls, "mineral of the day", a battle theme or a forest ambience.

Every item carries the page to link and a card to embed. Documentation and OpenAPI at /api/v1/docs — the "Developers & API" entry of this menu.

Embeddable cards

Every metal, mineral, ingredient, track, artist and album has a card you can put on a website, a blog or a wiki: the new "Share" button on each page copies the link and the iframe.

Paste a page link into WordPress, Discord, Notion or Ghost and it becomes the card by itself (oEmbed).

MCP server for AI assistants

Add https://michaelghelfistudios.com/api/v1/mcp to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or your own agent: it looks metals, minerals, ingredients and tracks up here instead of guessing, and cites the page.

The music itself stays licensed as before: the API describes the catalogue, it never delivers audio. Build something? Tell us — we would love to show it.

MGS Toolbox for Foundry VTT, Campaigns & a Massive Update Across Every App

Four days, a hundred new things — and one more application. Here is everything that changed since 1.2.2.

MGS Toolbox — the Foundry VTT module (new)

Every studio app now comes to your virtual table (Foundry v12 and up). Install the module from the Hub's "MGS Toolbox for Foundry" page, generate a token on MGS Audio's "Connect Foundry VTT" page, paste it into Foundry, and you are set.

MGS Audio: browse the catalogue and download the tracks you own straight into your world, sorted into playlists — one per album by default.

Soundboard: Music and Ambience tiles built from the catalogue (Tavern, Combat, Forest, Horror…), streamed, with search, crossfades, binding to a scene or to combat, and hotkeys. (Patreon)

Effects: a grid of streamed sound effects heard by the whole table with nobody downloading anything. Click a tile again to cut it, filter by tag, and drag any tile — an effect or a Soundboard tile — onto the macro bar for a hotkey. On D&D 5e, a spell cast from a sheet plays its effect on its own, picking a random take among the variants. Per-scene reverb, music ducking, compressor — all switchable off. (Patreon)

Encyclopedias: Crystal, Metals and Rerum open in a Foundry window, and their export buttons become "Send to Foundry": the card or the picture is filed as a journal page in an Encyclopedias folder of the world, downloaded once so it stays readable offline. Sending the same entry again updates its page.

Reference compendium: every metal, mineral, potion, ingredient and gem becomes an item in a world compendium, built at launch, and the Crafting Table's rules are written into a journal. Free, like the website (the Crafting Table half needs Patreon, like the bench).

Fantasy City Simulator: send the party's loot (gold, materials, food, research points) or effort on one construction project to one of your settlements; import its inhabitants as a journal (portrait, description, history, GM-only secret, personal journal) and, if you want, as actors — on D&D 5e and Pathfinder 2e the sheet also gets the biography and the creature type. The other way round, right-click an actor to make it an inhabitant of the settlement, form prefilled and portrait included. And when an NPC drops to 0 HP, the module offers to report them wounded, killed… or healed, and the settlement records it.

Crafting Table (D&D 5e): a campaign's inventories become items on your players' sheets — potions as consumables, socketed equipment created as the weapon or armour picked as its base item (with the system's stats, damage and price), and the gems' bonuses applied automatically as an Active Effect while the piece is equipped. In reverse, the sheet sends its ability scores, proficiency bonus and tool proficiencies to the Crafting Table, and the bench's Socket tab can add a socket to any object the actor carries — sword, ring, lute — which registers it on the table. Raw stones and prepared gems now carry a gold value on the sheet. Finally, the bench works from inside Foundry: brew a potion, extract an essence, cut a raw gem — the website rolls with its own rules and the result lands back on the sheet, with the roll posted to the chat. (Patreon)

Astarrys' guide: a journal written for the GM on the first launch, in Foundry's language, walking through every window option by option.

Each block (audio, encyclopedias, FCS, Crafting Table) can be switched off per world in the settings.

Campaigns (Hub)

A new Campaigns page: create a campaign, hand its 6-character code to your players, link your FCS settlements to it — each one gets its own Crafting Table. The Foundry module then picks one campaign per world and only shows what belongs to it. Linking or unlinking a settlement changes no FCS rights and never deletes anything.

Fantasy City Simulator

Registry: the deceased view becomes the Registry. An inhabitant can now leave the settlement — with their minor children if you wish — and come back later, aged by the cycles spent away. Every entry carries its status (deceased, departed, returned) and its reason.

Personalities: every inhabitant now has a personality made of traits (rerollable, GM-editable) and a personal journal that writes itself — arrival, birth, couple formed or separated, widowhood, job change, coming of age, retirement, departure, return, death. All rendered in your language, properly gendered in French, instead of the frozen English prose it used to be.

Relationships: friendships and rivalries form, evolve and fade over the cycles according to affinities. The GM can force one by hand: it is then locked and the simulation leaves it alone. Four knobs in the configuration (probability, decay, maximum friends and rivals).

Ambience: a new tab plays the whole MGS Audio catalogue while you run your settlement — type / era / genre / mood filters, search, play queue and a docked player. (Patreon)

An MGS Audio track per element: in the three builders (inhabitants, building plans, events) you can pick a track from the catalogue; it shows on the sheets, plays in the Ambience player and links to its page on /audio.

Addresses: the settlement, the tab and the open sheet now live in the URL. The browser's Back / Forward buttons work, and a link to an inhabitant, a building or a plan can be sent as-is.

Species: lists, sheets and prose finally show the real species name instead of its technical key; descriptions already written have been fixed.

Odds and ends: unlocks only offer jobs that actually exist in the settlement, the image library gains a curator role to grow the shared bank, import/export explains what it did, and event numbers no longer show ten decimals.

Crystal

3D specimens: invented minerals are no longer a flat gem. They are grown in 3D from their entry — crystal system, colours, zoning, core, inclusions, glowing veins, surface, matrix — turnable, with a button to enlarge them. Real minerals keep their photographs.

The Forge: a new tool to build your own crystal, option by option — system, habit, colours, transparency, luster, origin, rarity, affinity, zoning, core, inclusions, veins, surface, shape, growth accidents — with its name, its lore, its hardness and its density. An "All random" button rolls a whole specimen in one click. The first third of every list is open to everyone; the rest and the export are for Patreon supporters.

One address per mineral (in French as well as English), 141 pre-rendered entries, and "Generate" becomes "Discover" — it is an encyclopedia, not a generator.

Metals & Rerum

Card export: the "Download card" button now exists on Metals and Rerum too — and becomes "Send to Foundry" when the encyclopedia is opened inside the module.

A clean address per entry — 88 metals, 350 ingredients, in both languages — with pre-rendered pages: a shared link finally opens the right entry, and search engines can see it.

Corrosion resistance and reactivity are translated instead of shown raw.

Crafting Table

Campaigns: create or join a campaign from the app with your GM's code, and seat a character at it.

Base item: pick the D&D 5e weapon or armour a socketed piece corresponds to, and the module creates it in Foundry with its real stats.

Inventory driven from Foundry: as soon as the GM uses the bench inside Foundry, the website turns read-only with a banner — and a button to take it back whenever you want.

Addresses: the open panel, the alchemy mode and the active character live in the URL.

MGS Audio

Packs: the tracks released together now form a pack — a chip on each track filters the catalogue down to it, and one "Download pack" button brings the whole set home as a single archive. (Patreon)

"Connect Foundry VTT" page: token generation, step-by-step setup, and the devices list now shows each one's type (desktop app or Foundry).

Variations: on upload, "Song (Loop)" links itself to "Song", even when the parent is in the same batch. A Variations tab catches up the whole existing catalogue in one go.

The website's player became a shared component: it is the same one playing inside the Fantasy City Simulator.

Hub

A new "Features" entry: everything the platform offers, what stays free and what Patreon unlocks, product by product.

An "MGS Toolbox for Foundry" page with the published version, the manifest URL to copy and the install steps.

The Campaigns page, and the lightbox arrows finally centred in their circle.

Under the hood

Audio downloads and sound effects now go through an edge server: files leave from a point close to you instead of travelling through the application, which is markedly faster and far cheaper to run. The Soundboard and the Effects stream instead of downloading. The encyclopedias are pre-rendered at build time and publish a sitemap, which finally makes them shareable and visible. The reference data — metals, minerals, gems, potions, ingredients — now lives in one shared library, so the website, the Foundry module and the compendium say exactly the same thing. A monthly fair-use guard protects the service from automated scripts. On the desktop app, the "Restart now" button after an update works, and installs still on 1.1.0 finally receive new versions.

MGS Audio 1.2.2, a Much Lighter Toolbox & Polished Skins

A new version of the MGS Audio desktop app is available (1.2.2). It updates itself at launch: if no prompt shows up, simply restart the app once to apply the update (or grab it again from the download page). The catalogue filters now stay visible even when a selection empties the other lists, downloads recover better from a slow connection, and connecting a device is safer.

The whole toolbox went through a full refactor under the hood, with a strong focus on the number of requests: some tables asked the server for every row separately — two requests per line, so hundreds of calls on a large simulation — and could run into the server's rate limit. Those screens now load in a couple of requests whatever their size. Everything feels much lighter.

The skins have been improved again, and the web player got some love: tracks now chain automatically, the volume no longer resets between tracks, and the album module download works. Sessions also stay open while you are active instead of expiring on the clock.

The Hub's screenshots have been refreshed for every app — click one to see it full-size.

Every skin has been rebuilt from the ground up. Golddiggers, the original, moves to Patreon and comes back completely remade; Ember Forge takes its place as the default and stays free for everyone. Joining them are Immortal Vegans and the light-marble Holier-Than-Thou, both for Patreon supporters.

The TTRPG Audio Database is live at /audio: browse the catalogue, filter by era, queue tracks in the player, and grab the app.

Achievements have landed in the Hub, tracking what you have unlocked across the toolbox.

The menu, the rail footer and every modal are now identical in all apps: one square style, thinner and classier buttons, and the chiseled MGS mark where it belongs. Alongside that, the UX has been reworked in many places and the wording tightened throughout — the "Game Master" tag, for one, is now simply GM, so it no longer eats the simulation list.

The simulation selection screen has been fully redesigned: two-panel layout with sidebar, search, and a detail panel showing your city's current cycle, date, and resources before you even enter. Several bugs fixed: Force Pregnancy no longer crashes on first load, Kill and Assign Partner modals no longer hide behind the edit modal.
