A solitary night hunter of Asian forests, tall grass and mangroves, from the tropics to lands where winter falls to forty below. A few become man-eaters, and one tigress was blamed for some four hundred and thirty deaths. It was killed for its skin and for its bones, used in Chinese medicine.
