Scarlet Macaw
Ara macao · Bird
A loud red parrot of the lowland rainforest canopy, usually seen in pairs that mate for life and gather in flocks to roost at night. It harms no one. Its plumes were traded far across the ancient Americas, and today it is poached for the pet trade.
