Muskox
Ovibos moschatus · Mammal
Muskoxen graze the polar tundra by day in herds of ten to twenty, more in winter, and face danger in a line or a ring of horns with the calves inside. They are not aggressive, but a provoked one has killed people. Their soft underwool, qiviut, is finer than cashmere, and Arctic peoples made tools of their horns.
