Fennec Fox
Vulpes zerda · Mammal
The fennec, a tiny fox with huge ears, lives in the sandy Sahara and the deserts east to Kuwait, wherever grass or light scrub holds the sand for its burrows. Families of up to ten spend the hot day underground and hunt at night; it is harmless to people. In North Africa it is trapped to be shown or sold to tourists and kept in zoos and as a pet.
