A small wild sheep, 65 to 75 cm at the shoulder, red-brown with a pale saddle; rams carry great curled horns. It comes from primitive sheep brought to Corsica, Sardinia and Cyprus in the Neolithic that went wild, and has been released across Europe. It lives in small, very shy bands of five to thirty in mountains, gorges and woods, and in spring the rams clash horns.
