This pale scorpion lives in the driest deserts of North Africa and the Middle East, from Algeria to Somalia and from Turkey to Oman, hiding by day under stones or in old burrows. It hunts alone at night and its sting makes it one of the most dangerous scorpions on Earth. Its venom is milked today for medical research, including a toxin used to study cancer.
