Cougar
Puma concolor · Mammal
A large tawny cat of 29 to 120 kg ranging from Yukon to Patagonia, in montane conifer forest, rainforest, grassland, brush and swamp, wherever there is cover and deer. It hunts alone at night, stalking ungulates, leaping on their back and biting the neck, then burying the kill to return to it. It mostly avoids people, but attacks happen, usually on children or lone walkers at dawn, dusk or night.
