Copper Dragon
A winged, fire-breathing dragon, engraving from Athanasius Kircher's Mundus subterraneus, 1665 · Athanasius Kircher, Mundus subterraneus, 1665, Public domain, Wikimedia Commons

Copper dragons haunt dry hills, canyons and rocky uplands, where they run along cliff faces and lair in winding caves. They love jokes, pranks and tall tales, and a party that cannot laugh at itself may find its gear hidden or its path sealed with sudden mud. Hill folk swear that a good story told at a copper dragon's cave mouth is safer than any sword.
