Bronze Dragon
A winged, fire-breathing dragon, engraving from Athanasius Kircher's Mundus subterraneus, 1665 · Athanasius Kircher, Mundus subterraneus, 1665, Public domain, Wikimedia Commons

Bronze dragons live along rocky coasts and on lonely islands, lairing in sea caves that flood at high tide. They swim as well as they fly, watch the shipping lanes with great interest and sometimes take the shape of a gull or a fisherman to listen in harbours. Sailors credit them with sinking pirate ships and pulling drowning crews from the sea.
