Arctic Fox
Vulpes lagopus · Mammal
A small fox of the treeless tundra, often near the coast, active all year and living in family groups in dens with many entrances. It scavenges what wolves and polar bears leave behind and in Iceland takes the odd lamb. It was trapped and farmed for its pelt, the rare slate-blue ones being worth the most.
