THE BEGINNING

Our team's history begins in 2011, when Swiss composer Michael Ghelfi founded a post-rock project named Paradigm Shift. However, an Indian band had already taken the name—so he renamed it to simply Michael Ghelfi. Over the years, the project would evolve through many phases and genres, including Celtic music, cinematic tracks, medieval tunes, and many more.

Michael is a TTRPG gamemaster (GM) and author. As a GM, Michael invests a lot of effort to provide an immersive experience to his players. Though, back then, audio content for TTRPG were few and far in between, so he took it upon himself to compose ambiences. Eventually, Michael shared his first ambience on 26th of December, 2017. Considering the tracks' high-quality audio (and usage for many purposes), the YouTube channel had gained over 150,000 subscribers in just a few years. Thus, MGS became the largest TTRPG audio channel in the world.

THE STUDIO

We won the ENnies Award in 2021 (Gold) for best digital accessories for TTRPG.

In 2021, Michael stopped working as a cybersecurity manager for the Swiss government and started working full-time in audio production. Later that year, Serbian composer Filip Melvan joined the efforts and highly contributed to the quality and diversity of our music collection. So, Michael started focusing solely on ambiences and sound effects (SFX). Finally, the project took the name Michael Ghelfi Studios (MGS).

In 2022, MGS partnered with dScryb to develop Opus, a revolutionary TTRPG tool for GMs to easily manage audio and descriptions in their games. In 2023, MGS started recruiting composers for their great skill, unique style, and deep understanding of the TTRPG world. Soon, our friends from Lyre RPG Music joined the team. The team had officially become an audio label! Still in 2023, MGS became that official composers for Paizo, Inc., releasing many albums for their Adventure Paths. Most recently, in 2024, Miguel Abuel joined the team as a composer, adding an unique melody to the choir!

THE MISSION

Our goal is to create and expand the richest audio library for TTRPG in the entire world. In essence, our team will provide you with a solution for your every need—while keeping the highest standard for audio quality that made our renown. In that regard, the team only works with the best.

Michael Ghelfi Studios does not use artificial intelligence (AI) to compose any audio.
