Compagnie des Chemins de fer du Levant
Compagnie des Chemins de fer du Levant (Chemins du Levant) is a fictional steamship line of the Passage network, period-plausible, with 4 steamers on 2 routes.
Passage computes it for Call of Cthulhu and any 1920s or 1930s tabletop campaign: pick two places and a date, and print the ticket the purser's clerk would have written.
Historical model
Modelled on the Société Ottomane du Chemin de fer Damas-Hama et Prolongements (DHP), French-owned, whose narrow-gauge rack line climbed the Lebanon from Beirut to Rayak (41 miles in 6¼ hours), where passengers changed to the standard-gauge line by Homs and Hama to Aleppo (205 miles in about 12 hours, one train a day; the night train from Beirut met the dawn train at Rayak, Baedeker 1912), and on the Chemins de fer de Cilicie–Nord-Syrie, renamed Bozanti–Alep–Nisibine et Prolongements in 1927, the French company that worked the line from Aleppo to Adana from 1922 until the Turkish section passed to the Southern Railways in 1933.
